On March 19th, 2013, the second day of Toronto’s Fashion Week, DHL held their annual DHL Fashion Industry Panel.
The event was moderated by Leesa Butler, president of Devine Lab, Inc. (marketing firm), and founder of the F-list.ca (fashion blog). The panel that participated in the discussion includes some big names of Toronto Fashion Week:
Jarrad Clark – Global Production Director of IMG FASHION
Greg Hewitt – President of DHL Express Canada Ltd.
Mark Zimmerman – MaRs Discovery District
Christopher Bates – Designer of Christopher Bates menswear
Adam Taubenfligel – Designer of Triarchy
Roxanne Joyal – Founder of Me to We
The topic of discussion was things up-and-coming designers should consider when launching their own fashion line. The first major tip is to ask the top 3 important questions when starting a business:
1. What to sell?
2. Who to sell it to?
3. Who’s on your team that will help you to achieve your goal?
The panel was very engaging and informative. Leesa Butler kept things moving at a very good pace, posing many relevant questions that make the discussion lively and intriguing. After the formal discussion, a Q & A was held where everyone get to ask their own questions. The entire panel also stayed after the session for a meet and greet with those who wish to speak to them personally. Good fun and lots of info- awesome event!
