A Fashionable Ride: Inside Edition
BY STEPHANIE TRENDOCHER, FW Writer
I should admit to you first that I don’t even have
my license. In fact my interest in cars steers far
from how fast one drives and more towards
the comfort of my ride as a passenger. While
the thrill of heated seats is exciting enough for
me, these three car models take luxury to the
next level. A stylish ride with an Hermés leather
interior? Hey, even that appeals to a fashionista
like me.
In Versace’s latest collaboration, the luxury
house teamed up with Lamborghini to create the
ultimate stylish ride. The new Murciélago LP 640
Roadster was fashioned in Versace’s designs and
showcased during Milan’s Fashion Week for men.
Finished in a black and white leather interior, the
cars will only be produced on demand, however
accompanying accessories like gloves and
suitcases will be for sale starting in November
and will be available at Versace and Lamborghini
stores. While the Versace collaboration with
Lamborghini extends back to about two years
ago when the fashion house designed the interior
of the Murcielago Coupe, the 640 Roadster will
be the first available to the public.
Another luxury vehicle redefining the
meaning of lavish is the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par
Hermés. Partnering with the French fashion
house Hermés, this limited edition “supercar” is
available only upon request for a jaw dropping
$850,000 on top of the standard $1.5 million
selling price. Your upgrade will customize
your two-tone Hermés Veyron in any colour
combination and install a grille designed of
interlocking Hs and wheel trims that give the
illusion that they are hand stitched around the
edges. Undoubtedly the best feature is the Hermés
leather interior, hand stitched and installed in the
Bugatti factory over a period of 8 weeks. Now
that’s what I call hand-crafted luxury.
And if that doesn’t meet your style needs,
the Aston Martin and Kilgour collaboration
will surely satisfy. Combining their cutting
edge design visions, the sports car and Savile
Row tailor designed the V8 Vantage Coupe
based on Kilgour’s latest collection. Finished
in a “Morning Frost” satin paint, the finish
appears to have a silky texture while the interior
borrowed from Kilgour’s designs with finishes in
midnight blue Alcantara and perforated to reveal
the signature polka dots seen in the runway
collection. The Vantage was displayed at the Paris
fashion show and viewed by a select 250 VIP
guests. While this bespoke isn’t yet available to
the public, I can bet there are a few fashionable
sports car lovers eager to get their hands on its
gearshift.
