Fresh Scents
Fashion Weekly reviews some of today’s hottest fragrances.
BY LORA MAGHANOY, FW Editor
Every year, there is a plethora of new fragrances that designers debut. While many of us like to stick to the classics (Chanel No. 5, for example) new additions to the fragrance industry are always welcome. And I personally believe that an outfit is only complete after a few sprays of your favourite fragrance. Here are some relatively new scents that have captured our noses!
L.A.M.B’s “L” Fragrance
When pop singer, Gwen Stefani founded her
line L.A.M.B in 2003, the 2004 launch was
collectively embraced by her music and fashion
fans alike. Now veering away from apparel and
accessories, Stefani has ventured off to fragrances
with the 2007 launch of the line’s first fragrance,
simply called “L”. With a mix of aromas which
include hyacinth, white freesia, fresh pear and
jasmine, “L” has successfully embodied the
singer’s unique and cool style.
Viktor & Rolf’s “Flowerbomb”
Avant-garde Amsterdam-based designers Viktor
& Rolf debuted their label’s first fragrance with
the introduction of “Flowerbomb.” And while
the name may reflect a plethora of floral aromas
– this is not the case. The fragrance has tones of
citrus, vanilla and amber.
Dior’s “Dior Addict: Addict Shine”
Dior introduces a new fragrance, “Addict Shine”
– a scent described as refreshing and fruity and
with hints of gardenia and raspberry, offering a
youthful and sensual aroma. The scent embodies
the Galliano style; feminine and sophisticated.
DKNY’s “Delicious Night”
Considered to be one of DKNY’s sexiest
fragrances to date, the designer emulates all the
qualities of a sexy night out on the town. With
hints that include purple freesia, ginger, nightblooming
orchids and patchouli, “Delicious
Night” is yet another fragrance triumph for
Karan to put on her already overwhelming roster.
Pucci’s “Vivara”
Revamped since its original 1966 debut, “Vivara”
is a modern approach to fragrance. With notes
that range from green floral, almond amaretto,
orange blossom and other distinct hints of the
Italian Riviera, “Vivara” is sure to please. The
bottle is also distinctly Pucci with its notorious
Vivara print as its bottle cap.
Marc Jacobs’ “Daisy”
Reflected in its name, “Daisy” is a youthful and
feminine scent by designer Marc Jacobs. Playful,
yet sophisticated, “Daisy” is a fresh new scent
with hints of strawberry, violet leaves, ruby red
grapefruit, gardenia and musk.
