SuperBowl

Toronto Preps For TIFF

By: Stephanie Trendocher

A note to all Brad Pitt fans – the actor, who recently welcomed twins with partner, Angelina Jolie, is coming to Toronto! Here to support his film, Burn After Reading by the Coen Brothers (a dark spy-comedy), Pitt is sure to cause the same media frenzy that ensued at TIFF ’06 when the actor came to support Babel. While many have wondered if Jolie will be accompanying her man to the fest, don’t hold your breath – someone’s gotta watch their six children!

One of the most buzzed about films coming to the fest is Blindness, starring a bevy of talented actors – including
some of my favourites Julianne Moore and Gael Garcia Bernal. Directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God), the film centers around a mysterious epidemic which inexplicably blinds its victims and undoubtedly chaos ensues. An added treat? The screenplay was adapted by Canadian Don McKellar.

While her recent on-again dating status with fellow Canadian, Ryan Gosling has recently dominated the headlines, actress Rachel McAdams also proves there’s much more to talk about other than her love life. The actress
stars in The Lucky Ones with Tim Robbins and Michael Peña. The story of three American soldiers coming home is a compelling tale, accompanied with buzzworthy performances by its lead actors.

This year’s fest promises to deliver some star-studded appearances with the likes of Anne Hathaway, Benicio Del Toro, Charlize Theron, Christopher Walken and Jessica Biel (will she bring boyfriend, Justin?) are among those who have
confirmed their attendance.

Happy celeb hunting!
