Nuit Blanche had an overwhelming amount
of success this year, for better or for worse.
Despite the turn out being so large, and it
becoming gradually more and more difficult to
get around to view each exhibit. And whether we
like it or not, Nuit Blanche continues to grow and
flourish each and every year. Though visual art
seems to be the primary focus at Nuit Blanche,
fashion itself is beginning to gradually make it’s
way into the Nuit Blanche landscape.

This year Ryerson University held a very
large fashion show with its “Light Up The
Night” campaign. The show called Dislocation
was an interactive fashion conglomeration that
incorporated the audience a long side the use
of video imagery. Three separate fashion shows
took place through out the evening in the Zone A
location at 297 Victoria St.

Another fashion oriented exhibit at Nuit
Blanche was at Wrong Bar (1279 Queen St. W)
called Art of Fashion: Between the Lines where
ten participants portrayed their collections and
the audience was asked to vote for their favourite.
Vying for the title of Best Exhibit, designers had
to express their collections via performance art,
live models, and with the use of props.

Another Parkdale presentation for Nuit
Blanche was at Shopgirls Gallery Boutique (1342
Queen Street West.). The shop sells a variety of
one of a kind, hand made designer works from
local artists. They featured the amazing fashion
illustrator and artist Frederick Watson. Some of
his paintings are being housed at the store until
the 31st of October, which should not be missed!
Frederick’s work may also be purchased from the
boutique until the end of the month.
