OCAD is known as “the school of imagination”. Located in beautiful downtown Toronto. OCAD University has more depth and breadth in visual arts and design programs than any school of its kind in Canada. You can obtain a BFA or BDES and as of 2009 you can now obtain an MA, MFA or MDES.
Fall 2011 marked the 135th anniversary of the University.
The office will work to support, review and develop policies that support an inclusive environment based on the Ontario Human Rights Code, which provides that every person has the right to equal treatment without discrimination on the basis of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, family status and receipt of public assistance.
The University has exceptional Undergraduate and Graduate programs in the following fields:
Faculty of Art; programs include: Criticism & Curatorial Practice, Drawing & Painting (Major Programs) and Drawing & Painting, Expanded Animation (Minor Programs), among others.
Faculty of Design; programs include: Advertising, Environmental Design, First-Year Design (Major Programs) and Communication Design, Furniture Design (Minor Programs), among others.
Faculty of Liberal Arts & Design:
This program only has Minor Programs, which include: Art History, Creative Writing, among others.
Above is just a small review of the programs that OCAD offers, they have courses in Liberal Arts and Sciences, and school of Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as Aboriginal Visual Culture and Continuing Studies.
OCAD strives on providing amazing resources for their students. Including an Alumni, that provide career services, to help each student reach their goals. OCAD’s professors represent Canada’s largest art and design faculty. Many members of the OCAD U faculty have achieved national recognition with honours such as the Governor General’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts and membership in the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
