Some of us get bored easily. And this couldn’t be more true with
me – especially when it comes to my room décor. I can remember
staying up late, re-arranging furniture because I just needed a
change. While furniture placement is crucial to a positive flow
in your space, by simply adding small accessories and decorative
elements to any room, you can revitalize your space quickly and
easily. Here, FW narrows down what to invest in.

Window Treatment:
Whether it is blinds, rattan shades, or
floor-to-ceiling curtains, adding, removing or
changing your window dressings make a world
of difference. They dictate the amount of natural
light you let into your room, and depending
on your choice, can make your ceilings seems
higher than they really are. While shades have
become a popular choice for those seeking the
minimalist look, curtains in a variety of textures
remain the go-to solution your windows. They
give a dramatic flair to your room and also
provide adequate privacy from the outside
world. Experiment with different types of fabric,
whether light and diaphanous or thick and heavy.

Fun With Fabric:
Choosing a colour palette for your room is
difficult enough as it is- and having to choose
fabric proves to be even more so. While visual
appeal is paramount, one must also consider
another important element – “touchability.” If a
fabric is not comfortable to the touch, you or your
visitors most definitely will not favour it. Also,
remember to choose those that are durable and
can withstand whatever your children, pets or
unruly visitors throw at it.

Lighten Up:
While many focus on paint colours and
accessories, one element to a room is often
overlooked – lighting. This is due to the fact that
many approach lighting as a functional aspect and
not an aesthetic one. Choosing the right light
fixtures can highlight the room’s strong points
and affectively mask the negative aspects.
Invest in new lighting fixtures and categorically
place them in different spots. You will see that
simply moving a floor lamp from
one corner to another brings out a
different effect and therefore, switches
up the look of your room.

The Little Extras:
Throwing in a few little extras
into your space can add a sense of
vibrancy and creative a whole new
energy to your room. Consider
large throw pillows as seating, area
rugs and pieces of art to make a
true statement. They add your
own personality into your
room and really complete
your transformation!
