Condo Craziness: Discovering the Hot Spots in the City
As a new Torontonian who moved to
the city only a few months ago, I’ve done
the tedious task of scoping out all of the
neighbourhoods, searching for a great place
that has the hottest location and the most
attractive amenities. Most of my search
centered around the waterfront condos (which
is where I coincidently ended up), but lately
there have been a lot of developments popping
up in the most unlikely places, attracting young
executives to all different parts of the city. Here
is the low down on some of the trendiest new
digs- some where you would expect them, and
some where you wouldn’t!
King West: Condominiums in Liberty Village
I know right? We think Liberty Village,
and the image of quaint little cafes and older
brick townhouses come to mind. The area has
been growing in popularity as of late, however,
and its time to make some space so that even
more people can move into the trendy village.
The condos start at $279, 000 and the building
boasts 22, 000sq feet of private recreational
facilities including a 25th floor rooftop lake view club/
terrace, courtyard party lounge,
screening room, indoor pool, hot tubs, steam
rooms, yoga room circuit training area, games
arcade, billiards room, bowling alleys, and a
sports simulator room with Wii capability!
Looks like this artsy little area is gearing
up and ready to play in the big leagues of
downtown condo developments.
Fly Condos: Front Street
Now we find ourselves back in the area
where the condo is most well known- the core.
Fly is the most talked about development in the
area and is expected to sell out quite quickly.
The building will have an excellent location
being situated right next to the financial,
theatre, and entertainment districts and lots
of great shopping. The site will be beautiful- a
24-storey glass tower designed by well-known
architects and with inspired interiors by the
same designers as Ultra Supper Club. The
amenities will include a rooftop lounge/party
room with a wet bar, state of the art fitness
centre, yoga & Pilates studio, and an integrated
theatre and music jam room complete with
sound mixing equipment. Suites will start
from the low $200’s and the ultra hip layouts
will feature 9-foot ceilings throughout
(10-foot ceilings if your lucky enough to
Photo courtesy of snag a penthouse!).
900 Mt. Pleasant Condominium Residences
For this new development we need to move
north, to an area where we normally expect
to see houses rather than skyscrapers. The
facilities here include the event lounge; a patio
filled with lush garden, multi media room,
fitness room, billiards library, and a guest room
to accommodate visitors overnight. Since this
development is slightly removed from the hustle
and bustle of the downtown core, residents can
enjoy peacefulness and over 1500 tress, plants,
and flowers, which have been incorporated into
the overall landscape.
DNA Condos Toronto: King West
Once again, the popularity of the King/
Queen West area is bringing huge developments
into the area. This condo is more in line
with the artsy area than the Liberty Village
Condominiums. The features include an
exterior made up of a cool combo of eclectic
styles. The base is made of brick with limestone
detailing (think turn of the century warehouse),
and from this a contemporary glass structure
rises into the skyline. This new development is
perfect for those who want to enjoy the trendy
edginess of the King West area with the luxury
of living in a stylish loft condo.
Panache Condos: Yonge & Eg
If we head over the East end of the city,
condo searchers can look to the Panache
Condos- A great place to live if you’re looking
for a residential feel, but don’t want to do the
residential chores (mowing the lawn, taking
out the garbage- yeah right!). The building is
19 stories high and ranges from bachelor pads
to 2 bedroom + den living spaces. Many of the
suites have large balconies or terraces and have
European style kitchens, eat in breakfast areas,
or breakfast bars with oversized bedrooms. The
amenities in this building include an indoor
pool, whirlpool, fitness centre, theatre room,
and a party room complete with dance floor
and kitchen.
Its simple to see with the city growing, and
different areas continuing to develop, that whether
you’re into arts, the quiet life, or if you just love
being in the heart of the city, the condo life is now
available to anyone who is looking for it.
