For the second installment of splurge vs. steal, we will be looking at ottomans. This is pretty much a staple item in many households, as they are very versatile, functional, portable and many are being made to be more modular. Ottomans are really great for smaller spaces because they can double up as a coffee table, or be used for extra seating. The main advantage is that they can be used for storage purposes without looking bulky or out of place in a living room setting.
If you want to mix things up, there are some really great slips and covers-available most places where furniture is sold, which can be thrown over ottomans to suit your desired look and taste. For a more elegant look, Victorian inspired ottomans will be a really good choice; they add a beautiful touch of sophistication to your space. For a more casual, relaxing living room, a leather ottoman is always the best choice. If you’re feeling spontaneous and festive for Valentine’s Day, go for a red ottoman, it can add a nice, warm touch of colour to a room.
