I have known my BFF for over 10 years. This is years before he finally admitted he was gay! We were two very different teenagers growing up in the Parisians suburbs. He was very
popular, very cute boy every girl wanted to be around. I was on the other side not-so-cute and very shy. But for some reason, the day we spoke we just connected and haven’t
separated since.
We were two normal kids growing up in a brutal word. We loved spending time either watching or shooting movies. Dreaming that one day we’ll make it to the famous and
glamorous French Festival in Cannes. And just in case you are wondering, no, I never had
a crush on him. I’m S.E.R.I.O.U.S!!!
He was probably the cutest boy back then and is today a gorgeous and sweet man. But I have always loved him like the brother I never had. I always thought that we might at some point end up together because we were meant to be like Joey / Pacey/ Dawson! I guess I kind of always knew and was relieved but yet shocked when he finally came out when we were about 20 years old.
The relationship we have is not comparable to anything I have experienced in my life. Gay men are so fun to be around with. They will always make you feel good about yourself. They actually get us!! They are dangerously honest, if those pants make your ass looks like the size of North America, your gay BFF will tell you straight! Are you absolutely certain that your
girlfriends would be honest with you without secretly wanting your derriere to look bigger?
My gay BFF gets that sometimes I don’t need advice or someone to tell me what to do. He knows that sometimes, all I need is an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. If I want to be a drama queen I can be one. Even though I have to say I can never be a bigger drama queen than him! I admit it.
The best part of having a gay BFF is the fashion. They have a great fashion style and always know tons of people in the fashion world. And you get to be one of them! Why do you think every famous fashionista has her own gay BFF? In Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw might have the best three girlfriends ever but she also has Stanford! I believe there is an
unbreakable bond between a girl and gay man. This is at least how I see mine.
A couple of years ago when I was going through a rough patch and decided to start over in the UK, he moved with me. We lived the best two years of our lives. He never failed to push me, encourage me and be there for me. Again when last year I decided to move to
Toronto…Well… He decided he’d rather stay in Paris, wonder why?! But we both know that
if we need a good laugh or a serious talk we are only a call away!
